Author Talk: Stephen A. Goldman

  • Lewisboro Library 15 Main Street South Salem, NY, 10590 United States (map)

Psychiatrist and author Dr. Stephen A. Goldman presents ‘The Impact of Reconstruction in the Border States and Above the Mason-Dixon Line.’ Dr. Goldman will link Union soldiers’ and sailors’ combat and military service with their sustained commitment to the Civil War’s ‘unfinished work’ of equality for all Americans. He will show how enhanced availability and quality of public education for African Americans, and use of the law to fight Jim Crow, can be traced to unprecedented efforts made by veterans during Reconstruction.

Dr. Goldman is the author of  “One More War to Fight: Union Veterans’ Battle for Equality through Reconstruction, Jim Crow, and the Lost Cause.” Books will be available for sale and signing after the presentation, courtesy of Books on the Common.
